Community Relations Strategies for Corporate Profitability
In the past, companies were seen as being outside the society and the understanding of social contract was narrow: government providing for the public good and companies were required to obey the laws of the land and pay their taxes. Companies, big and small, contributed to their communities by way of donations or building of houses, schools, hospitals as acts of mere philanthropy. To survive and thrive in the 21st century knowledge economy smart companies need to move away from mere philanthropic giving and be more strategic in their engagement with communities where they operate and their employees work and live.
The main aim of this seminar is to generate the ideas and modalities that could shape a new thinking in community relations by companies operating in Nigeria.

Prof. E. A. Biakolo:
A Professor of Cultural Communication, Emevwo Anselm Biakolo has over 26 years of University teaching in Nigeria and abroad. He has spent 15 years of journalism practice at senior editorial level and 10 years of management experience in the communication industry. He was the pioneer dean of the School of Media and Communication, Pan-African University. From 1998 – 2007 he was the Director, Communication and Publishing, Black Accents Communications, Gaborone.
Dr Austin Nweze:
He is an international conference, seminar, and workshop speaker and consultant. He has varied experiences in consulting for corporate and government institutions at different levels in business process and improvement. He is the founding President of Association of Outsourcing Practitioners of Nigeria (AOPN). He is also a member of the Africa Outsourcing Association. He currently teaches Community Relations and Corporate Strategy the School of Media and Communication (SMC) of the Pan African University, Lagos, Nigeria. He has authored and published books, and currently heads the knowledge economy research team.
