Ikechukwu Kalu is the Chief Executive Officer / Lead Consultant at Customer Passion Point Limited, Lagos, Nigeria. He is also a Business Administration graduate of University of Lagos and has an Executive MBA from University of Nigeria, Nsuka. In addition, he is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing London and has more than thirty years of decent work experience to his credit.
Prior to assuming his current position, Ike Kalu was Vice President / Group Head, Marketing & Communications at First City Monument Bank (FCMB), a diversified financial services group, providing investment, retail and corporate banking services in Nigeria and globally. In his role, he was responsible for developing a robust Brand Marketing program with a focus on creative and innovative means of growing quality awareness to deliver strong brand equity and growth in sales. Ikechukwu was Marketing Director of Zanzibar Telecommunications (Zantel), Tanzania, a subsidiary of Etisalat, where he demonstrated hands-on marketing expertise in online and offline direct marketing, media planning, ROI based analytics, branding/positioning and inbound marketing techniques.
Prior to his Zantel role, he worked with MTN Nigeria, Zain (now Airtel) Nigeria in different senior capacities. In 2004, Kalu was recognized by MTN Group for his outstanding performance in the Nigerian operation. He acquired one million customers in a month through a promotion called “Life is Beautiful”, surpassing the target set at 300,000 customers. While in MTN, he held several positions in which he proved himself as a quintessential Marketing professional. These included Senior Manager, Mass Market, Acting General Manager, Consumer Market and Senior Manager, Regional Operations.
Mr. Kalu has more than 30 years of experience across various sectors which include Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Telecoms, NGO, Banking and Consulting. Ikechukwu Kalu has consulted for Banks, Telecom companies, NGOs to improve their performances through distinctive capabilities and solutions. He specialises in leveraging opportunities for businesses, some of which include enterprise-wide business and technology programs which increases revenue, reduces costs and amplifies awareness to boost brand penetration, adoption, growth in wallet share and retention.
Ikechukwu has also undertaken various trainings and executive management courses which include the Senior Management Program (SMP) in Lagos Business School and a post graduate diploma in Marketing from Leicester University in the UK. He has also attended a specialized training in business-to-business Marketing and Retail Marketing from Harvard Business School (USA) and Wits Business School (South Africa) respectively.
