NNPCL SYMPOSIUM ON ENERGY AND SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION

17 17 people viewed this event.

Introduction

The ideals of sustainability have become ubiquitous, especially in the energy sector serving as the overarching principle guiding all aspects of the strategy to address the global energy challenges. These ideals involve the various approaches organizations adopt for the immediate maximization of resources and adequate concerns for the future. Particularly, it emphasizes how energy is sourced, processed, and utilized without hazard to the social, economic, and physical environment. Addressing these challenges in a nation like Nigeria requires a multifaceted approach that leverages diverse communication channels that engage local communities (Ajani,et al., 2023).

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), in its effort to enhance Africa’s energy-independent approach, adopts a general stakeholders-sensitive approach, thereby playing a key role in the global sustainability agenda. In the same vein, the Centre for Media, and Communication Research (CMCR) at Pan-Atlantic University was established to promote a culture of scientific inquiry that is sensitive to Africa’s development needs such as promoting the
sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the African continent through the media and communication.

Against this background, CMCR with the support of NNPCL invites media and communication experts, scholars, policymakers, regulators, and other relevant stakeholders in energy, sustainability, and environmental communication to register or submit their abstracts to participate in an insightful discourse that will facilitate a sustainable environmental communication in Nigeria.
