The Centre for Media and Communication Research (CMCR) of the School of Media and Communication has on the 7th of November 2023 signed an MOU with Pan-Atlantic University Press as the publisher of the maiden editions of the Journal of Creative Media. The journal which is a brainchild of the Centre of Media and Communication Research, School of Media and Communication was motivated by the dearth of media and communication journals in sub-Sahara Africa. The journal is hoped will bridge this gap by advancing globally scholarly conversation in the creative media industry in Africa while playing a critical role in positioning the University as a leading institution in Africa and beyond.

The Director of CMCR, Dr. Nelson Okorie stated that the journal will promote multidisciplinary research within the creative industries while contributing valuable knowledge about using media systems and communication structures to advance policy and sustainable development in Africa. Likewise, the Head of PAU Press, Dr Nwachukwu Egbunike in his remark affirmed the need for a journal like JCM at this critical moment in Nigeria’s history which informed Pan-Atlantic University Press’s decision to adopt JCM as their pioneer journal publication.

JCM is believed at no time will emerge as a high-ranked repository of academic and industry knowledge in creative and media studies in the global community.
