Lawrence Akande, also as (大奇) in China, is a graduate of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, with Distinction in HND Music Technology in 2005, also a 2014 MA graduate in Film Studies from Beijing Film Academy, China as one of the best students of the institution. After his graduation from The Polytechnic, Ibadan in 2005, and a successful youth service at NTA Television College, Jos, in 2007 he started work with Nigerian Film Corporation, Jos, and was posted to National Film Institute, Jos, before he resigned in 2016 and founded Pacesetter Media and Studios in 2016 and later incorporated Afritainment Creative Limited.
Lawrence Akande has over ten years of experience teaching and running successful film training, facilitating international workshops, and advocating for film training skill acquisition program for the youth. Lawrence Akande served as a facilitator at the shoot! 2007, 2009, and 2014 international film training, and capacity building workshop organized by Nigerian Film Corporation, National Film Institute, and National Broadcasting Commission; recently, he was the Master trainer for Media and Entertainment sector of Lagos State Employability Support Project (LSESP) under Global Education Management System – Arcskills, sponsored by Lagos State Government and United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), where he trained over 1000 youth in Lagos state in film production. Apart from been a facilitator, he has worked on some film and commercial projects in China, such as Final Battle; Guilty or Not Guilty; Hainan Airline commercial; Pekin University Hospital commercial and many others, and most recently ‘Identity’ shot in Lagos with some French crew.
Lawrence possess excellent academic, administrative, and communication skills to effectively teach with practical demonstration which enhances students’ ability to grasp the subject matter.
