Introduction

Media users are increasing daily in leaps and bounds. Homes, businesses and personal lives are now mostly run on media platforms and their enabling technologies.  The media constitute the channels through which news, entertainment, education, data and promotional messages are disseminated. It is the prevailing global platform of social and business engagements.

The media entrepreneurship programme aims not only to expose participants to the vast opportunities in one of the fastest growing industries in the world today, but also to equip them with the necessary skills to play successful in some of the lucrative spheres of the industry. The media industry presents entrepreneurs with an opportunity to either start small or start big and still be profitable. The programme also promises to widen the horizon of current players in the industry for more innovative engagements. Our approach will stir an entrepreneurial spirit in the participants and encourage them to launch out for a catch in the rich waters of the media industry. Key players in the industry who are our partners in knowledge creation will be on hand to share their experiences in their respective fields of media business to the advantage of the participants. Together with them, we will be exploring opportunities in key and lucrative areas of the media business.  Cross-country case studies will complement experience sharing sessions for greater insight.

At the end of the training, we hope to be able to inculcate in the participants the spirit of entrepreneurial innovation and creativity which will propel them to exploit the many opportunities out there in the media industry, guided by the experiences of the successful players who will interact with them in the course of the programme.
