‘MEET THE EXPERT’ SERIES WITH TOLULOPE ADEDEJI

January 21, 2021

Defying the Covid-19 limitations, the FT13 Class of the School of Media & Communication, Pan-Atlantic University held their first virtual event tagged ‘Meet the Expert’ series.

The guest speaker was Mrs. Tolulope Adedeji, Marketing Director and Board Executive Director of AB InBev, manufacturers of Corona Beer, Budweiser amongst others.
Mrs. Adedeji shared her 17 years of working experience in an hour-long presentation. She narrated her professional journey starting out as a fresh graduate, and how virtues like humility and fortitude (in addition to tenacity) played a pivotal role in her career growth.

Furthermore, she highlighted six tips for career building, they include leadership, job mastery, being a solution bearer, collaboration, passion, and very importantly, building a good relationship with your manager. She debunked the myth of needing to lobby to stay in the good books with bosses and rather placed emphasis on the need to be honest, forthright with your expectations, avoid gossip (about bosses) and, show in the little things that one is loyal and cares for his/her boss.

She highlighted the importance of having a strong support system considering that she enjoyed the support of her family. Speaking on the unpredictability of life and inevitability of change, she advised on the need to be flexible and adjust. She also emphasized the need to be authentic with oneself.

The class engaged her with different questions regarding her life and career, which she graciously answered citing examples to back up every explanation. She concluded by giving this profound quote, ‘your life is determined by three things- how you spend your time, how you spend your money and, who you spend your time with’.

It was a very productive time with Mrs. Adedeji and we wish her well in her future endeavours.
