Senate approves the contraction of the Masters in Film Production programme

The University Senate has approved the contraction of the MFP programme from five semesters to three with effect from the 2021-2022 session.

The new admission requirements and programme duration have been structured into two categories:

Category A.

Holders of any of the following qualifications shall be admitted directly to the second semester of the 3-semester programme:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Film/Television/Motion Picture Production
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication/Theatre Arts/etc.—with evidence of course work and or final project in film production or film studies; and
  • HND in Film/Television/Motion Picture Production plus a PGD in any discipline.

In the full time mode the programme duration shall be 2 semesters/12 months.

Category B.

Holders of any of the following qualifications shall be admitted directly to the first semester of the 3-semester programme:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline [preferably in the humanities and social sciences]
  • HND in any discipline.

In the full time mode, the duration of the programme shall be 3 semesters/18 months.

Both the new and old programmes shall for now run concurrently.

Consequently, in the first semester of the 2021-2022 session, the MFP shall have two streams in the old programme; and at least one stream in the new programme.
