A team from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria recently paid a visit to the School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-Atlantic University, for the purpose of renewing the SMC’s ARCON accreditation.

The team was led by Mr. Joe-Eugene Onuorah, Deputy Director, Registration, Career Matters & Corporate License, ARCON. The other members of the team were Prof. Samaila Mande, Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, National Open University of Nigeria; Mrs Agbo Susan Ngozi, Head, Planning, Research & Strategy, ARCON; Dr. Ajike Emmanuel, Associate Professor of Strategic Marketing and Management at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Nigeria; and Mrs. Agatha Okonkwo, Accreditation Desk, ARCON.

The programmes for reaccreditation were the BSc Mass Communication and the MSc in Media and Communication. The ARCON team inspected the facilities of the SMC and interacted with both members of faculty and students. They also reviewed the curriculum.

This accreditation serves the interest of SMC graduates by eliminating the necessity for writing the Advertising professional examinations if they choose a career in Advertising.

Students who want to pursue advertising as a career are thereby enabled to get direct professional registration upon graduation.
